Creativity begins with a crayon and a free program from Crayola is designed to encourage free-thinking, hands on learning in primary aged children.
Crayola Creativity Week, a global program, will run from January 23-29, 2023 featuring resources, giveaways and creator celebrity content.
The program ties to key learning objectives, spotlighting creativity through visual art, dance, STEAM, and literacy. Inspirational videos, daily challenges, downloadable Thinking Sheets aligned with education standards in multiple subject areas will be available and can be implemented year-round.
Students will learn from various celebrities, and join space explorers, Broadway stars, comedians and illustrators in a read aloud and hands-on art making demonstration. Students can complete the daily creative challenge using Crayola’s downloadable, printable Thinking Sheet activities. There’s also the opportunity for teachers to share their class’ artwork online to enter to win prize packs filled with Crayola products, books and tech.
The daily content schedule is focused on Self Expression, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Social Emotional Learning and Kindness and each day’s activities take around 30 minutes.

“Supporting Crayola’s mission to nurture children’s creative mindset and bring more creative opportunities to schools, after school programs, and homes, this year’s theme is 'Turning Today’s Interests into Tomorrow’s Careers.' The main point expressed throughout Creativity Week is that when children apply creative thinking and express their ideas, every learning experience becomes richer and more engaging,” Sterman says.
“The program has been designed to assist teachers in the classroom, giving young creatives the space to let their originality shine. Learning through cross-curricular, creative learning experiences, creativity is a mindset that helps students learn about themselves, others, and the world around them. The lifelong skills of being innovative, learning from mistakes, and expressing one’s ideas with confidence are essential at every stage of human development.”
