Esports are mushrooming in popularity.

Video games are quite popular in case you hadn’t noticed and high school students can again get a taste of pro gaming with registration now open for Acer Predator League Academy’s (APLA) term 3 tournament.

Participating teams of four students per team will battle it out via weekly competitions with other schools, playing the popular game Fortnite. Schools will compete across three maps that have been designed to promote communication, strategy, and critical thinking, testing players skills and teamwork within the Fortnite world.

Off the back of the success of the first tournament in Term 2, which saw 28 teams and 20 schools from across Australia and New Zealand take part, students and schools are being encouraged to sign-up for term 3, with registrations closing 20th July 2024. A teacher is required to be a coordinator for each team.

The Acer Predator League Academy gives students across Australia and New Zealand the opportunity to do what many will be doing anyway but within a structured and social format.

Term 2 winners will have the opportunity to compete in a live final against the Term 3 winners at Sydney’s South by South West (SXSW) later this year, with the winning team to be crowned the inaugural Acer Predator League Academy champions.

Registrations for Acer Predator League Academy term 3 are now open, with further details on the grand final at SXSW to be announced later in 2024.
