Wakakirri has announced that "The show will go on" for the 300+ schools that have signed up for the 2020 Story Dance Competition. A series of strategies have been developed to ensure that Wakakirri live shows will still go on should the 500 people public gathering ban be in place when the Wakakirri live season takes place.
Adam Loxley, Wakakirri Festival Director said: "We are following recommendations from State and Federal Health and Education Departments and using that advice to guide our decision making process. Providing a safe environment for your students is our highest priority. We also believe that in these stressful times, maintaining regular activities (especially those in the arts) is more important than ever.
"All of our alternate strategies involve students performing live on stage and range from limited audience shows to no audience, judge only shows. Additionally, later performance dates to give schools more time to prepare due to disrupted rehearsals are being booked.
"At the Wakakirri office it is business as usual. We are preparing for all scenarios and hoping that none will be needed. If you require more information you know that our friendly staff are always there to help. We will endeavour to keep everyone up to date as the situation develops.
"Everyone please stay safe and keep dancing."
