KOMPAN Australia has launched a Matched Funding Grant Program, open to schools in Victoria and Western Australia, aiming to make quality play and fitness equipment more accessible for schools, kindergartens and childcare centres.
To enter, applicants must make a submission detailing what their ideal playground or fitness space would look like. Eligible applications will be judged on a range of criteria including creativity, play value, how inclusive the space is, how the playground would complement the existing space, and how it would benefit the school community.
Successful applicants will be granted 50%, 35% or 25% matched funding for their playground or fitness equipment, up to a maximum value match of $30,000, meaning successful applicants could potentially receive a $90,000 play space for $60,000.
KOMPAN Australia Managing Director Peter McKewen said, “Statistics from the Australian Government’s Institute of Health and Welfare report that only 30% of Australian children aged 2–17 are meeting physical activity guidelines. Our kids spend more than 1000 hours every year in education, so schools have a major role to play in increasing physical activity levels. This program is KOMPAN Australia’s way of giving back to Aussie schools.”
The KOMPAN Australia Matched Funding Grant Program is now open. Two rounds of up to three grants will be awarded in Victoria and Western Australia in April and in August, meaning up to twelve grants could be awarded across the two states.
