Entries for the fourth Telstra ARIA Music Teacher of the Year Award are now open.

The award recognises music teachers for their hard work, creativity and dedication to their students and the wider community. This year, being a teacher has never been so demanding and The Song Room and ARIA shine a light on the importance of music education to connect students to learning.

Last year, Antonio Chiappetta, from St Andrews College, in Western Sydney had his very own rockstar experience when he shared the red carpet with Australian music legends and was celebrated as the 2019 award winner.

He was one of four music teachers from across Australia chosen as a nominee for the 2019 award. ARIA Ambassadors Conrad Sewell, Katie Noonan, Emma Watkins from The Wiggles, and Montaigne, visited their schools and helped to tell their stories.

To be in the running you must enter them by 5pm May 29

This award is open to any teacher working on a music program in a school, kindergarten, early childhood centre, youth centre or private tuition music school in Australia.

Anyone from around the country - from students, school administrators, to friends, neighbours and family - can nominate their music teacher for consideration to win an ARIA.

Print out this downloadable A3 poster and put in the name of your favourite Music Teacher to drum up support around your local community or school!
