The Paralympic Games are about to kick off and in time for the opening, Tes (Teach Starter) and Paralympics Australia have teamed up to create the Paralympic Education Program.
As the Official School Resource Supplier of Paralympics Australia, Tes (Teach Starter) will initially release a range of primary school teaching resources relating to the Paralympic Movement and the Australian Paralympic Team as well as supporting the 2024 Games Time Paralympics Webinar for schools.
All content created through the partnership will be made available free of charge to teachers and educators across Australia via the Tes (Teach Starter) website. More resources will be added over the course of the partnership to create a collection of Paralympics-themed, curriculum-aligned and decorative resources, available to all teachers who sign up and download for use in their lessons.
The initial wave of curriculum-aligned and decorative resources will cover the history of the Paralympics, Para-sports classifications and the Australian Paralympic Team’s journey to and achievements at the Paris 2024 Games. These resources will be available on the Tes (Teach Starter) website and more will be added over the course of the partnership.
There are colouring sheets, Paralympic word searches, design tasks like a brochure creating exercise and Paris exploration resources just to mention a few.
Tes and Paralympics Australia intend to keep developing their partnership until the Brisbane Paralympic Games in 2032.
Tes Australia Managing Director Brett Engeman said, “At Tes (Teach Starter) we feel like we’ve already won gold by being an Official Partner of the Paralympic Education Program. Over the course of this partnership, we will be offering tailor-made resources free of charge that will not only help teachers educate students about the Paralympics but also inspire a deeper understanding of diversity and inclusivity. Our goal is to create a lasting impact in classrooms by celebrating the achievements and stories of the Paralympics and help teachers foster an environment where every student feels empowered and valued.”
Paralympics Australia Chief Executive Officer Cameron Murray added, “Our new partnership with Tes (Teach Starter) has the potential to make a profound impact on schools across the nation, by bringing the spirit of the Paralympics into classrooms and inspiring the next generation to embrace diversity and inclusion.
"Together, we’re creating resources that will engage students in a meaningful way, making the Paralympics accessible to all."
