A good time repurposed.

Kids spend up to eight hours a day on their devices, that’s a lot and 1Question is looking to introduce some constructiveness to that time.

The Australian made mobile app gamifies screen time through engagement with educational content, by correctly answering curriculum aligned questions kids can earn access to the internet.

“To solve the screen time challenge, we need to stop thinking about the aggregate amount of screen time. Instead, we need to start thinking about the aggregate amount of productive screen time,” said Issac Elnekave, 1Question Co-Founder and CEO.

“Much like sneaking vegetables into a cake, 1Question is sneaking educational content, created by teachers and educators into your child’s screen time.”

The company is one of only two Australian edtech companies selected to form part of the Elite 200 the world’s largest competition for edtech start-ups which offers $1 million in prizes.

1Question will compete in San Diego this April at the ASU+GSV Summit, the annual education technology event hosted by Arizona State University and GSV Ventures.

More than 175 judges from leading venture capital firms and strategic partners in digital learning like Accel, General Atlantic, Reach Capital, and Owl Ventures, among others identified the 200 most promising companies.

The Elite 200 companies serve learners from Pre-K to Gray, with companies well-distributed across the following categories: Early Childhood, K-12, Higher Education, Adult Consumer Learning, and Adult Enterprise Learning.

The 2022 Elite 200 is comprised of an increasingly diverse and global group:

  • 58 per cent of companies have female founders
  • 51 per cent of companies have founders that identify as people of color
  • 44 per cent of companies are based outside the United States.

1Question has over 400 Australian shareholders following one of the biggest equity crowdfunding campaigns in Australian history ($1.94M AUD) and this was achieved during Covid-19 lockdown.
