Submissions open for review to achieve educational excellence in Australian schools
Submissions for the Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools chaired by Mr David Gonski will close on Friday 13 Oct. The report and recommendations on on how school funding should be used to improve school performance and student outcomes will be submitted by March 2018.
The Panel has invited all interested parties to put forward ideas on the quality reforms that are needed to drive improved student outcomes. The submission process forms the primary consultation process of the Review and submissions will inform the final report and recommendations.
An issues paper has been prepared which describes the purpose and scope of the Review and poses a series of questions intended to stimulate thinking around how success should be defined and measured, what can be done to improve and how any barriers to improvement can be overcome. Submissions can be made via the online submission form until 5:00 pm AEDST Friday 13 October 2017.
There is a 3300 word limit for each submission, including up to 300 words to provide a summary of the key points.
Submissions will be published on the department's website at the end of the Review and will be made public unless the author states via the online form that their submission is confidential. However, the department reserves the right to edit or redact part or all of a submission, or withhold a submission from publication.
The Review will not reconsider school funding calculations and distribution, early childhood or tertiary education. It will focus on practical measures that work, from Australia and around the world, to improve outcomes for Australia's school students.
