Victorians roll out Minecraft to state schools
Victorian schools are deploying Microsoft Office 365 and a statewide rollout of Minecraft: Education Edition, which will be made available to more than 600,000 students attending Victoria’s 1,500 state schools.
Victorian schools are deploying Microsoft Office 365 and a statewide rollout of Minecraft: Education Edition (Minecraft: EE) which will be made available to more than 600,000 students attending Victoria’s 1,500 state schools.
The purpose of Minecraft: EE is to develop 21st century skills in schoolchildren, including collaboration, problem solving and communication, while encouraging students to both think for themselves and collaborate with peers to boost their learning.
In addition to this announcement, today at ISTE (the international educator’s conference), Microsoft Education also made the following announcements:
- Aquatic for Minecraft: Education Edition– a new set of game features and underwater worlds available for free to all Minecraft: EE users
- Inquiry based lesson plans – to compliment the BBC Earth and OCEANX film, Oceans Our Blue Planet
- New STEM lesson plans – students can learn to write code, build sensors and analyze data while exploring the ocean
- Limitless Libraries – a new Mixed Reality grant program designed to help foster Mixed Reality adoption in education.
